Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the follow up to an amazing game! This time around the developers have Microsoft’s full support to create something even better and a lot more interesting and fun. What you will like quite a lot in this game is that you still control Ori, but many things have changed here.
Of course, some things still remain the same. You still need to use your platforming skills and jump around all platforms to reach that next level and finally pursue your dreams. But this time around, they removed the need for manually saving as it was less convenient. It’s great since you can finally explore without worrying about saves since it autosaves. Moreover, they removed the sequential upgrade system and they replaced it with a shard system. This one is more akin to the Hollow Knight charms and that actually comes as a surprise for most of us.
That being said, you will be able to explore the world and enjoy all the unique features and details presented there. The quality and unique experience really shines and you will be quite impressed with the sheer attention to detail and incredible value provided here. The game also has new movement abilities and inaccessible areas that you can reach later on.
They are also borrowing some elements from Metroid and Rayman this time around. We don’t really know what that means or how it unfolds, but what we do know is that these things are quite challenging and they become widely sought after in some amazing and fun ways.
In regards to the story, we know that we have to discover the world beyond the forest of Nibel. Now we will also have to learn the truth about the lost ones and in doing that we uncover the true destiny of Ori too. But as you can imagine, things are not as easy as they seem. It will take quite a lot of work to unlock the true potential and reach those benefits, so it’s definitely going to be quite the challenge that you will encounter here. Yet it does seem a worthwhile experience and something that you will really want to push towards that next level and evolve in some masterful and fun ways. That being said, it’s a lot of fun to uncover this type of ideas and you will find it very interesting and impressive as you go along.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps manages to build up on the previous game while also making this one more intense and fun. There’s a great story here, but at the same time the developers are making the gameplay even more challenging. They are adding in new abilities and it’s just a lot of fun to browse and explore all this stuff in a cool way. It’s one of the metroidvania titles you really want to play, and it arrives February 11 2020. You should play the first game to get a better understanding of the story, but that’s not something mandatory.
