Remedy Entertainment is one of the developers that always strive to take chances and come up with some really cool ideas. Control is definitely one of those games. The entire game is created around the FBC, which is a secret agency that contains and studies reality-violating events. You will take the role of Jesse Faden, the new director that tries to explore the Oldest House and you will use your abilities in order to defeat an enemy known as the Hiss. This enemy is corrupting reality and it needs to be stopped as fast as possible.
The main kicker in the game is obviously the fact that you have special abilities in this game. You will be able to control enemies, levitate and enjoy telekinesis too. Moreover, the abilities will use energy, however you will be able to expand that as you progress in the game. There’s a skill tree where you can upgrade and acquire new abilities. You will also need to find objects of power that were hidden in the house as well.
The combat system is versatile and you can easily balance and customize it the way you want. However, your health does not recharge automatically, so you will need to pick up health from fallen enemies. Since we are in a very large skyscraper, the game has a lot of focus on interiors and not exteriors. That means lots of fighting and playing inside the skyscraper, which is not exactly the most fun things you can find out there.
On the other hand as you play you can unlock more of this location, which does end up being pretty fun from time to time. It definitely takes a little while to get used to all of this and you will be a bit challenged with the way everything works and the process itself. You will love the attention to detail and the quality provided, not to mention the way the entire experience shines and evolves in a meaningful manner.
The enemies in this game are very powerful, they are possessed by the Hiss and you will have humans as well as mutated variations with all kinds of powers. You will surely find your match here and it becomes a demanding situation with some truly demanding situations all the time here.
Is Control worth a shot? If you like the idea of being a very powerful hero that can use amazing abilities then yes, this is definitely right up your alley. The gameplay is very immersive and they did an amazing job at making you feel super powerful and just a major hero. Obviously you won’t always be the most powerful, there are enemies that you will find hard to eliminate. But that’s the fun of the game, to try and combat the Hiss and finally put an end to it. Bosses exist, and they will be really hard to deal with. Thankfully the numerous capabilities like controlling enemies for a bit are things you will find really useful in your experience with this game.
